Below, Oscar tests my quilt for softness and sleepability.
Joan made her first quilt in 1980 and has been an avid quilter since that time. She has used many different techniques and patterns and has completed over a hundred quilts using her domestic Bernina 1080 machine. She is actively creating new designs for her series of children's books as well as new applique designs for her series of "Birds of Encouragement."
She is inspired by a wide variety of images, from prints on fabric, to photos of nature, and even nontraditional places that show a repetitive design or unusual color.

In "A Surprise For Turtle," the animals are at the picnic and waiting to surprise Grandfather Turtle.
This is Joan in her studio in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Yellow rose pattern is available now.
"Solidly Challenging" I made this quilt because of a guild challenge in which members were to use only solid color fabrics. What fun!
